Dictionary definition, Juicy:

Interestingly scandalous.  Temptingly appealing.

How often do you scan stories about history that are fundamentally the same information presented time and time again?

When I research articles for this newsletter, Juicy History, I am not only looking for accurate facts about the topics at hand, but I endeavor to find new information that has somehow been lost over time. Fresh details can often make a big difference to what has long been considered traditional accounts of the past.

With every article and image, I strive to uncover details that have never been told before, or facts and images seemingly lost to time.  I go to great lengths to add new data to these stories that is thoroughly authenticated by documentation or in-person interviews with museum curators and respected historians.  I also search old texts and manuscripts whenever and wherever they are available.  I’ve been told more than once that my research somehow uncovered facts that changed conventional history or at least altered stories that had long been considered carved into stone.

I spend hours locating and digitally enhancing antique photographs and illustrations for each article. Many have never been published before, and they are consistently referenced and posted with copyright permissions as they might apply. Many images come from my extensive collection of never-before-published photographs and illustrations from my personal library of antiquarian books and ephemera dating back to the 18th century, including a few fragments far older.

And then, there are those exceptional times when articles are developed through exciting finds that have been stored for decades in the corners of creaky attics or wonderfully eccentric collectors’ shelves.

Therefore, I promise you many hours of diligent and honest work.  As I explore the often mysterious, charming, and quirky stories from our past, I hope to make you curious and delighted with all I find.  Whenever I hit the “publish” button, I sincerely hope you will consider every published work a meaningful read.
