Carved Into Stone: September 6
Announcing! Juicy History will soon launch on September 6, 2022. The opening article is about the first electric cars here in the USA. Many focused hours have gone into the foundation of this story with the hope of delivering accurate and well-researched information. Hopefully, even those who might not typically feel enthralled about electric automobiles will agree that this story is unique and fascinating!
Electric cars began during the late Victorian period and by 1915 were known for their speed, romance, and even gorgeous, out-of-this-world, interior designs. They were originally considered almost a couture item for the fashion-minded and marketed to stylish women drivers. Or, for anyone daring to take an electric racing car for a spin, they could achieve outrageous speeds beyond that which we typically drive today! This article is set to publish with numerous rarely seen photographic and illustrated images taken from the original electric car catalogues, adding to your reading enjoyment.
And then, what’s next with Juicy History? You will receive stories about every imaginable, sensational topic including some secretive cocktail drinks (with recipes from speakeasies) as published during Prohibition; a story about mid-19th-century fine art forgeries taken directly from early “how-to” articles from the time; a new story about a Ziegfeld Follies star who was to bequeath her name, and perhaps even her soul, to Marilyn Monroe; a story about the first automobile GPS system from the turn-of-the-last-century illustrated with scarce photographic images; a rare antiquarian cookbook from 1803 with images; and many more articles ahead about science and technology, Christmas and other holidays, vintage and historic fashions for gents as well as ladies, textiles, travel, museums, auctions, authors, illuminated manuscripts, and so much more. Most stories are culled from original antiquarian publications found in my personal library dating back to the 18th century.
Of course, there will also be informative stories about valuations, collecting and collections, down-sizing, conservation, and appraising all by Julia Henri, ISA AM: Accredited Appraiser with the International Society of Appraisers as well as published photographer and writer. Most of all, I will welcome your questions and comments!
