Is it possible to tip-toe across the crowded room and slip back into a vacant seat without being noticed?
This has been a topic of discussion for the past weeks as I prepared to write again here on Substack.
What happened? Just how much should a writer explain, apologize, and disclose personally?
Interestingly enough, my younger friends, family, and colleagues all suggested that I should really get it all out there and show my vulnerable side.
“Explain your life over these past months in detail,” they said.
Whereas, with older chums, there was a solid line drawn in that generational gap. They insisted that I mention absolutely nothing about my absence because one simply doesn’t talk about this personal stuff online.
The controversy hinges on the fact that I have so many dear subscribers, paid and not, who I truly care about. But you have not heard a word from me for months.
So, what happened, indeed? I wasn’t at all well and it was quite a tough time, I will admit, and without hesitation. I’ve decided to simply call this health crisis “a medical emergency” and I think it is best to skip the details; mostly because I just don’t want to think about it anymore.
Then, you see, I can move on. The good news is that I am going to be just fine!
Yes, I’m back and I say that with a solemn “whew.”
And, I find, you have all kept your subscriptions! Thank you! In fact, I’m absolutely honored that so many subscribers follow “Juicy History.” And when I finally revisited Substack, there you all were, patiently waiting on me. Oh, yes, I have lots of time to make up for now. Thank you, so very much, for sticking around.
I can promise that I’m working on the latest installments that should offer some peaceful reading and newly found historical information that will entertain and peak your interest in our past. Of course, each article will feature photographs and illustrations that are rare or never-before-published.
It will be a joy to hear from everyone again. Please do take the time to comment!
And so, here’s to you, my friends…up and onward!
Thank you.
